The coins on this page

  • Bitcoin (BTC)

Bitcoin is the first and largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization. Launched in 2009 by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto, it runs on a proof-of-work blockchain with a fixed supply of 21 million coins, which is why it is often described as digital gold.

  • Ethereum (ETH)

Ethereum is a programmable blockchain that runs smart contracts and decentralized applications. Ether (ETH) pays for transactions on the network, which secures itself through proof of stake. Most stablecoins, DeFi protocols and NFTs are built on Ethereum.

  • Solana (SOL)

Solana is a high-throughput blockchain designed for fast, low-cost transactions. SOL is used to pay network fees and to stake with validators. It is popular for payments, trading applications and consumer apps.

  • XRP (XRP)

XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger, a blockchain built for fast cross-border payments and settlement. Transactions settle in seconds for a fraction of a cent, which makes XRP a common bridge currency for international transfers.

  • Dogecoin (DOGE)

Dogecoin started in 2013 as a light-hearted fork of Litecoin and grew into one of the most widely held cryptocurrencies. It has no supply cap and low fees, and is often used for tipping and small payments.

  • Cardano (ADA)

Cardano is a proof-of-stake blockchain developed with a research-first, peer-reviewed approach. ADA is used for fees, staking and on-chain governance.

Frequently asked questions

How often are these crypto prices updated?+

Sonic Wallet refreshes crypto prices every hour. Each page shows the exact time of the last update in UTC.

Are crypto markets open on weekends?+

Yes. Unlike stock markets, cryptocurrencies trade 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so prices can move at any time.

How do I buy crypto with Sonic Wallet?+

Create a Sonic Wallet account, add funds, then pick a coin such as Bitcoin or Ethereum on the trade page and enter the amount in US dollars.

What is the difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum?+

Bitcoin is designed as digital money with a fixed supply of 21 million coins. Ethereum is a programmable blockchain for smart contracts and applications, and ETH pays for activity on that network.

Why do crypto prices differ between websites?+

Each exchange has its own buyers and sellers, so prices can differ slightly at any moment. Price sites also update at different intervals. Our prices are refreshed hourly and show the time of the last update.

Which cryptocurrency is the least volatile?+

Stablecoins such as USDC and USDT are designed to stay at $1. Among other coins, Bitcoin has historically been less volatile than smaller altcoins, but it can still move sharply.

How to read crypto prices

Crypto prices are quoted in US dollars and move around the clock. A few basics make it easier to compare coins and judge how much a price move really matters.

24-hour change versus 30-day change

Because crypto never closes, the daily change is measured over a rolling 24-hour window rather than from a market open. The 30-day change smooths out day-to-day noise and shows the broader trend.

Price is not the same as value

A coin's price on its own says little. A $0.10 coin is not cheaper than a $60,000 coin in any meaningful sense; what matters is market capitalisation, the price multiplied by the number of coins in circulation, and how that supply changes over time.

Volatility

Crypto assets regularly move 3% to 5% in a day and can fall more than 50% in a bear market. Smaller coins are usually more volatile than Bitcoin and Ethereum. Investing a fixed amount on a schedule, known as dollar-cost averaging, is one way to reduce the impact of timing.

Where these prices come from
